Didier Noirot, one of Jacques Cousteaus's cameramen and my great mentor, is a master at creating long emotive takes of fast-moving dynamic action
This image of Didier was captured on the 29th of July 2008, at the very end of a four-week shoot for The Great Tide Episode of the BBC's Nature Great Events, directed and produced by Hugh Pearson.
Didier had switched to his Arri film camera in a SubSpace underwater housing at this stage and was picking off tight shots of gannets diving and swimming underwater.
These images became a signature part of the final baitball sequence of the film and added much to the elegance of its portrayal.
